If you were a 15 year old in Zambia, half your classmates would die from HIV-related illnesses.
Makes you think....
HIV is a massive problem and it is needs BIG solutions. We can campaign to try to make a difference. At positive there will be an opportunity to join others in taking action. But why wait - you could start right here, right now.
Back in June, Gordon Brown promised to treble the size of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria by 2010. In other words, UK funding would have increased to £700 million over the next three years. However instead the government has now said this will be only £360m for the period 2008- 2010. They have failed to keep their promise.
The Global Fund has already proved effective, saving 1.8 million lives. It could save 50 million more lives by 2010 if the promises for funding are met. However, without the full support of the donors (like our goverment) the fund cannot hope to achieve this. To find out more go to: http://www.stopaidscampaign.org.uk/brown'sfirsttest.asp - you can email Gordon Brown from this page.
